That's a line from the Ice Cube song, "Today Was a Good Day." And today WAS a good day, except for the asshole next door moving out, having his floors polyurethaned (twice) and not keeping the windows opened.
Anyone have a clue as to how long it takes the smell to go away? It's been since Monday, and I'm afraid they didn't do it right and my cat and I are going to asphyxiate should we ever shut the windows.

I think the worst you'll get from the smell will be a headache. The cat has probably already adjusted. They are adaptable creatures.
