Tootie. I like saying "Tootie"

I have no idea how to answer questions that anonymous people ask on my blog, so I'll just do it here. One of y'all asked about a reference another poster made to The Facts of Life, a show I loved, probably because it featured a bunch of girls living with a mother figure who nurtured and supported them but in the end, was not actually their mother. Isn't that every dysfunctional daughter's fantasy?

I admit to not being perfect, and several years ago, I insisted that Tootie Ramsey on The Facts of Life had made a cake shaped like Jermaine Jackson's head. A friend of mine insisted that it was a papier mache model of Jackson's head. She was right. I was wrong. And I'm never gonna hear the end of it.

I'd like to note, though, that my friend Suzanne was transcribing a Kanye West interview a few weeks back, and asked me how "Tootie" was spelled. (Apparently, Kanye West was a big Tootie fan back in the day.) So, see? All those years wasted at the Eastland School for Girls had a practical application in the office!

And for the record, my apartment is finally smelling better!
