Roberta Flack, Sitcom Whore

So one of my favorite theme songs is "Together Through the Years." That's not the sappy piece of crap by Kenny Rogers that my sister danced to with my father at her bat mitzvah at the Somerville Inn. It's the theme song from Valerie, which turned into Valerie's Family, which turned into the "we give up; just give it some generic title" The Hogan Family. I love this song. In fact, almost every time I see a woman running down the street, it reminds me of Valerie Harper running in the theme song to this show, and then the song gets stuck in my head. What can I say? I have no fog.

Anyway, I just looked up the song, because the time had come for me to finally find an MP3 file of it and sing it to excess. And Roberta Flack sang it. Roberta freaking Killing Me Softly Flack. That just doesn't seem to fit. It's like finding out that, I don't know, some really great musician, say, that Johnny Cash fellow, was the dude behind the "It's Garry Shandling's Show" theme. . . which by the way, is also awesome.

"This is the theme to Garry's Show,
The opening theme to Garry's show.
This is the music that you hear as you watch the credits.."

I was thinking about The Hogans recently - don't ask me why, I have no clue. I couldn't remember what they did - she left the show so they killed her off? Or am I confusing things...

2.5 Men is the funniest sitcom on TV.

Funny story. Also true. Senator in Florida was chairing a committee hearing about oil pipelines. Ended the hearing early. Said (for the record): "It's Monday night. I have to go home and watch two men and a little boy."

Take it any way you like it.
