The Croc Kid

Does anyone find it a little creepy that, only a few months after her father's tragic sudden death, lil' Bindi Irwin is being pimped across America to promote her new television show, Bindi the Jungle Girl?

I know, I know. The eight-year-old daughter of the Crocodile Hunter wants to carry on her father's work, make him proud, blah, blah blah. And I'm no child psychiatrist, but, I don't know, taking a girl who's already experienced such a horrible loss--in the public eye, no less--and throwing her into a showbiz career complete with mini entourage, publicists, guest appearances with The Wiggles . . . it all kind of reeks of Anissa Jones.

Actually, a LOT creepy. But given the fact that this family's future revenue stream is built around this one thing, I figure getting Mr. Irwin's persona replaced as quickly as possible was important to them.

I'll never understand the cult of celebrity that drives decisions like this. May he rest in peace, and may his family find solace in moving on - in whatever form it takes.

I think he was working with her on the show when he died, so it was already in the works. But I think I would have given the little girl some time to adjust (if I were the adult in that case).

The publicity is creepy.

Dear Movie Guru,

Question: the end of one of the Star Wars movies when the ewoks are dancing around. What is that music? Is it "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac?

Another question Ms. Guru:

Why is "Miss Potter" not in your list of movies seen in 2007 "Miss, No One Messes With My Movie Viewing Schedule!"?

Still want to go?

Very creepy! I expect to see her in the news in about ten years "Different Strokes" style!

I was thinking the same thing when I saw her and her mother on Oprah this week!!

She almost seems programmed. She talks like her father and has very exaggerated gestures. Very Creepy!!

It's perfectly normal, Carli. Haven't you ever known Carnies? I thought Steve Irwin was wonderful but he was a Carnie through and through.
