Coupla Things

Posts to the toy blog have resumed. I was too lazy to get over to Toy Fair last weekend (seriously, people--why does Javitt Center have to be so freaking far away from everything?) and never got time to go during the week. But there will still be updates galore in the near future.

I finally saw Close Encounters of the Third Kind. As a sort-of sci-fi fan and a definite child of the late seventies/early eighties, it was simply shameful that I never got around to seeing it.
And since TCM rocks, they showed the most recent, 1998 "final edition." (It's the edit Spielberg wanted, with elements of the 1977 version and the 1980 re-release, without the 1980 peek-inside-the-spaceship.) The movie rocked. I love early Richard Dreyfuss. There. I said it. I put it out there. You just don't hear too many people saying they love RD. But I do, dammit. And I wish he hadn't lost so many good acting years to drugs.
And I think the kid playing Barry (the little boy that gets abducted) went to high school with BB--although BB probably doesn't know it.

Isn't the director's cut of Close Encournters great? Really emotional movie for Sci-Fi. (I too am a child of the 70's/80's).

I'm touched by your honest sharing on your blog, and what you've been going through. Sending you good thoughts.
