LOST

Tomorrow night's "Essentials" film on TCM will be The Lost Weekend.
The film is a poignant, tragic portrait of an alcoholic who, in the absence of his watchdog brother, embarks on a two-day bender. Despite its unrealistically upbeat ending, The Lost Weekend
won Billy Wilder a pair of Oscars (for best directing, and for the screenplay) and is well worth a peek.

The film will be introduced by TCM's Robert Osborne and his co-host for this season of The Essentials, Carrie Fischer. Knowing Ms. Fischer's own struggles with substance abuse, it will be interesting to see what she has to say about the movie.

Sounds like an interesting movie, but since it's light here this time of the year till nearly 10 PM, I'm not much into movies now, wait till the winter. But anyway, Michele says hi!

Michele sent me over this time, Carli.

I saw The Lost Weekend back when I was in college. I still remember it fairly well, surprisingly enough. It's been a while since I've seen Fisher in a film but I've read several of her books. I seem to remember that she was doing a talk show of some sort for a while, but I never saw it.

Have you seen any of "The Lot" reality show? Ms. Fischer is a judge on the show (along with Garry Mashall who makes Paula look sober). I've been disappointed with the short films, but it's still an entertaining show.
