Lately, my OCD has been affecting my ability to use my DVR (cable-issued Tivo-like device) in two ways:
1. I think a "bad word" when I start recording something, and have to erase it.
2. I think that by setting my DVR to record something in the future, I'm inappropriately assuming I'll be around to watch it.
This is frustrating, because I'm missing a lot of movies I'd really like to see, and I'm paying for a service I'm not really using. And it also leads me to have really ridiculously stupid thoughts, like this one:
"I just have to remember to stay awake till 2:30 a.m. tomorrow, because The China Syndrome is on."
And also, to be home by 8 on Friday for Bedtime for Bonzo. Hey, it's Ronald Reagan day.

Oh, will the movie begin at 2:30 am???
Michele sent me to keep you awake :)
I have the same problem with my "cable issued" DVR - among others I shan't go into here. I always intend to watch what I've recorded, but rarely ever do. I have literally hours of *quality* TV recorded just waiting for me to find the time.
Michele sent me,
Mike
Once again you have managed to capture my attention...your blog often facinates me (I can just hear all the replys you must have to that!)
"Inappropriately assuming I'll be around to watch it"....
Do you mean it is inappropriate to assume that you'll be around as in "living" and able to watch it?
Or do you mean in the sense that it is inappropriate to assume that you'll ever take the time to watch it in the future?
What interesting examples. I love it. I'm sure you aren't loving the actual experience. but sharing it was awesome.
You need to enlarge your stock of "good" words to counter the "bad" ones. Froker could be a "good" word for instance.
