I'm thinking

of asking for a new digital camera for my birthday. I want something small, that I can take everywhere, that isn't TOO expensive, and doesn't stink. Any suggestions, blog friends?

I like the Olympus Stylus 710. Or something similar. It is now available in the 10 megapixel variety for just a few hundred dollars. You can get the 7 megapixel for about $169. Since it's a birthday present, go for the best!

Of course, there are some cooler looking cameras with the similar sleek design. Sony has a really good one that is black.

I bought my daughter-in-law a Canon Sureshot and she loves it! My boyfriend who is a Consumer Reports nut says that the Surshot is the best thing on the market. But then he has a thing for Maria Sharapova, so I don't entirely trust that.

A lot of times on tech I'll check CNet (cnet.com) reviews to narrow down the field too.

for a point n shoot, I'm reasonably pleased with my Canon Power Shot A560. Reasonably priced, lots 'o megapixels (7.1!) and the hesitation before the shutter goes is not too bad. I even dropped it in the water last week when it was on and after it dried out it worked again (of course, it might crap out in another week, but I'm trying to be optimistic.
