WHY I KEEP PATTI AROUND

I don't talk much about my friend Patti. But she's awesome and loves Muppets and goes after what she wants and she's an actress, too, so someday, I swear you're going to see her on Law and Order playing either an overeager defense attorney with something to prove, or the suspiciously calm sister of a woman found naked in a dumpster with the word "slut" written across her chest in ketchup.

Anyway, I love that I can instant message this to Patti:

I was going to see Applause, but I can't stand Mario Cantone--although Chip Zien is in it, too.

And she was like, "Oh, Chip Zien. You gotta go."

I may not be the most knowledgeable Broadway musical fan out there, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority of people who even know who Chip Zien is. And Patti's a member of that group, too. And that's why I keep her around. So I can sound cool saying "Chip Zien."

And also, because once I called her at 2 in the morning to say, "I'm watching Carrie and they're about to drop the pig's blood on her and I'm scared can you just stay on the phone till it happens?" And she did.

Chip Zien.

Also, I'm totally aware of my run-on sentences, but I'm trying to type the way I talk, and right now I'm talking in run-on sentences.

And here I thought is was my orange, poodle-like curly hair which kept me in your good graces.

For the record, the fact that YOU know who Chip Zein is and the strange 2am phone calls are a few of the reasons I keep you around. That and your omlett making abilities.
