My parents are on their way home from China, and I am grateful that they respected my request that they don't call or e-mail while they were gone. (Hey, it's MY vacation, too.) Since they've been gone for 16 days, and since I usually talk to them every day, I sent them an extensive e-mail of what I've been up to, partially to avoid a long phone conversation.
Anyway, I thought since I was laying it all out for them anyway, I'd lay it all out for y'all.
I'm feeling better than I have in a really long time--years, maybe--which definitely means I am going to get hit by a bus very soon. Maybe just a figurative bus, but a bus nonetheless. I have a lot to work out yet--where I want to go with my career, my apartment, when will I finally go to the dentist?--but for the time being, I'm simply enjoying feeling like a relatively normal person. I had a lousy rotten crappy summer the past two years, and right now I just want to play.
I started physical therapy on Friday and am very cautiously optimistic--I know if I want any chance of running, it's not going to happen on my own with a Pilates for Dummies DVD.
I've now lost almost 40 pounds and people are starting to notice. That's one of the really cool things about losing weight--and since I'm so heavy, it took a while for anyone to see a difference, so they're all commenting on it at once. (Think about it: Forty pounds off of a 2#& frame is a lot less noticeable than forty pounds off of a 120-pound frame. In fact, if you weighed 120 pounds and lost forty, you'd be in trouble.) I also like that I now only take up one seat on the train, and my blood pressure is coming down to non-stroke levels, and I can wear some regular-sized clothes instead of Glad Force Flex garbage bags.
The bad thing is that when I was walking to the movies this morning my shorts fell down. . . like, almost all the way. In the middle of Union Square. I guess I need a belt. Or some really spiffy underwear.
As usual, I have loads of videos to upload, mostly from my most recent trip to Central Park, but they take forever and Army Wives is coming on soon.
Speaking of TV, by the way, the Emmy nominations were announced this week. There were only two performances I cared about, since I'm not all that into awards shows, and there's sixty bajillion shows on now so I can't even keep up. I'm glad to say that both Carrie Fisher and Dianne Wiest earned nominations. I'll be very surprised if Carrie Fisher doesn't win (for her hilarious guest-starring shot on 30 Rock). And Dianne Wiest's pitch-perfect performance as Gina on In Treatment can kick Lorraine Bracco's ass in any "My whole role takes place in a chair and I'm still awesome" contest. (Bracco isn't even nominated, since, you know, her show is no longer on the air.) Seriously, it's damn scary how amazing Wiest is. I was just thinking about this yesterday--she dissolves so fully into every part she plays, and she deserves all the accolades she receives.

Congrats on the weight loss. I keep meaning to try that, but then chocolate calls my name...
I realy enjoy when you talk movies or television - wish I could think like that :)
Congrats on the weight loss. It's gotta make you feel good to have people noticing - good for you.
The shorts falling down incident - LOL - I'll admit I've had something very similar happen recently. Only it involved an old pair of work jeans and pushing a lawnmower and neighbors...
A good blog entry Mrs. Carli.
