I've been slipping into some bad old habits lately (messiness, despair, agoraphobia, etc.) and I've got to snap out of it. With that in mind, I'm trying to plan out some activities for the coming weekends so I don't just end up spending most of Saturday wandering aimlessly through Target and most of Sunday taking a nap.
Here's what's coming up:
This weekend: (If I manage to get all this done, I will consider myself a superhero)
Friday night: Seeing On the Town with the parental units. (Why do I see so many shows with my folks? Two reasons: They pay, and I have very few friends.)
Saturday: Here's where it gets wacky and busy.
Straighten up in the morning, finally turn on my heat, and hopefully be done with it all by noon, so I can park myself on the couch with a bottle of hard cider, most of the Sunday New York Times (I have a weekend subscription, and most of the Sunday paper--anything that isn't going to change, newswise, overnight, actually comes on Saturday), and a sleepy kitty--the perfect conditions for watching Rutgers spank Army.
Following that, a trip to the Union Square Barnes and Noble, to research ideas for my gift recommendation site. Depending on the time, perhaps a movie.
Sunday: Wake up. Go to Target and grocery store with strict time limit. Come home. Spend next twelve hours alternating between writing posts for Present Professor, watching football/Fox's Animation Domination/rerun of Grey's Anatomy on Lifetime at 11 p.m., and perhaps cooking something. Not taking a nap.
So, we'll see if I do any of that. I have the same advice for myself as I have for President-Elect Obama: Don't fuck it up.
Thanksgiving weekend, I hope to:
1. Wake up really early on Friday morning to watch Black Friday craziness
2. Perhaps see another movie
3. Update site
4. More football, newspaper, cat fun, etc.
5. Perhaps bake
I'll spend Thanksgiving proper at my sister's place, where I'll eat, play with my fantabulous nieces, offer to help clean up just as everyone's almost finished cleaning up, and watch football on my sister's 90-something-inch plasma.
The following weekend, I have my niece's 6th birthday party. It's a cheerleading party. I'm going as the social outcast all the cheerleaders make fun of. . . we want to make it as "real" as possible. On that Sunday, I might come into work to start wrapping Winter Wishes gifts.
The weekend after THAT, I have a ticket to see Canadian Brass at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Saying that makes me feel very cultured. Like yogurt.
Weekend after that: Chanukah madness at my folks'. (I pronounce the "ch" as if I'm saying "chalk.")
Weekend after that: Who knows?
So, some exciting stuff if I can get my act together and take it on the road. I'm seeing p-doc tomorrow about maybe tweaking some of my meds. . . I have a feeling part of my shitty overall feeling is how freaking dark it is outside.

You did not say what you are seeing at the NJ Performing Arts Center. I want to know!
Saw In the Heights for the second time last night. I really love that musical, corny story and all.
I think you have a great plan, but too much time in the apartment. It's too easy to NOT do any of that. However, I am going to take inspiration from you and make a similar plan re: cooking and cleaning and doing work at home that I need to get done. Thanks!
You should stop by Thanksgiving morning if you have some time. Would love to see you when I'm not running to meet a client for lunch! I looked it up and I live about 3 blocks from your sister- right on Rahway.
I love a good production of "On the Town"... the duets and trios and quartets... the chemistry of a good cast doing this production is hard to beat... love it. :) Let me know what you think of it!
