I have about 50 movies saved on my DVR right now--more than I watched all of last year. Here's a list of all of them, minus some of the silent shorts, since they're not long enough to really qualify as movies. I hope to watch a bunch of them and make room on my DVR for more movies I won't watch for a year. Any recommendations on which I should watch first? And also, which I should dump?
Speedy (silent Harold Lloyd flick)
Save the Tiger (Jack Lemmon won an Oscar)
Captain Blood (I don't feel like writing an explanation for all of these.)
Rashoman
Boys From Brazil
All About Eve
Metropolis
The Frighteners
American in Paris
Shane
Miller's Crossing
Move Over, Darling
The Big Sleep
The Queen
The Producers
Blazing Saddles
Hudsucker Proxy
High Noon
The Stratton Story
The Glenn Miller Story
Love Me or Leave Me
The Toll of the Sea
Old San Francisco
Daughter of the Dragon (These last three star silent film actress Anna May Wong; I also have an hour-long documentary to watch about her, so it's sort of a package deal.)
A Face in the Crowd
To Be or Not to Be
Susan and G-d
You Can't Take it With You
Sherlock, Jr.
The Kid
A Dog's Life
The Idle Class
The Gold Rush
City Lights
Roman Holiday
Dinner at Eight
Absent-Minded Professor
Glass Bottom Boat
Stage Door
Pat and Mike
Steamboat Bill, Jr.
Gentleman's Agreement
Dr. Strangelove. . .
The Great Escape
The Unknown
Hollywood Canteen
Stage Door Canteen (Along with these two, I have a "Warner at War" documentary)
The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T
Wow. There are a lot of classics I still haven't seen. . . this list has silent comedies, musicals, screwball romances, war, Noir, and more. (Although, now that I've posted this, the hard drive will probably konk out and I'll have nothing.)

Well, imho I would definitely say these should be at the top of your list to watch first:
City Lights
Roman Holiday
All About Eve
You Can't Take It With You
Shane
The Big Sleep
The Great Escape
Save The Tiger
Dr. Strangelove
Rashoman
High Noon
Love Me Or Leave Me
Captain Blood
I also think the Anna May Wong package deal would be totally fascinating. I've read one of her biographies and she led an interesting life.
Blazing Saddles....oh man I love that movie. Just get ready to be offended at every turn :)
Have you really never seen Blazing Saddles? And I thought you had seen Gentleman's Agreement -- one of my faves. I second All About Eve. Also -- The Glen Miller Story is one of Jack's faves. Not a great movie, but, hey, the music...
T-Mo
P.S Is The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T made up? Or did you mean Dr. T and the Women?
I also vote for Blazing Saddles. If the Stratton Story is the Monty Stratton Story, trash it, unless you really need to see the least convincing portrayal of an athlete ever.
