Bizarre Life Metaphor at 11:30 p.m.

I feel like, we're getting back the boy but losing E.T. I need to get to a place where E.T. and Elliott are both doing okay. (In my head, this makes sense.)

Also, when I was a little kid, at the doctor's office, when they would take some blood out of my finger, my mother would wrap the gauze around my finger afterwards and pretend it was E.T. And she'd make my finger fly and we'd hum the "Flying Theme" from the movie and I wouldn't be afraid. And then she'd come into my room in the middle of the night carrying a suitcase and tell me she was leaving because I was bad. And then she'd say, "No, just kidding. But are you afraid NOW?" (Um, that last part is less than true in that it is totally not true.)

Also, I threw a total geek fit this weekend when I found out you can't get the extended version of "Adventures on Earth" from iTunes without buying the whole E.T. album. (That's the really exciting "now all the kids are on bikes and they're going to fly and it's gonna be awesome even if Spielberg did replace all the guns with walkie-talkies" song.)
