Ok, I could see this.
However,Agnes was wearing her prom dress(and crying over the fact no one asked her) and was eating B.B.Q. ribs and drinking bourbon.
She passed out and awoke with B.B.Q. sauce splattered all over her dress, just as Carrie was wreaking havoc on screen.
For a brief shining moment she felt the connection.
