Imaginary Conversation With Alice Ripley While Sitting at Austin Airport Wearing a Kent State T-Shirt and Listening to Next to Normal

Alice Ripley: I went to Kent State. Did you go to Kent State?

ME: No. I went to a thrift shop in Union City, New Jersey. I could just as easily be wearing an "Amherst College Hillel" shirt from the same shop.

Alice Ripley: You know, with the flight delay and the bad weather, it's possible that your plane will crash while I'm on stage tonight.

ME: That is not a very nice thing to say, Alice Ripley.

Alice Ripley: And your Amherst College Hillel shirt doesn't fit right now.

ME: I know. But "Amherst College Hillel" shirt sounds funnier than "I could just as easily be wearing my Sussex Meats t-shirt"

My MOTHER: You're wearing a Kent State t-shirt on a flight? Uch. When are you going to start dressing like an adult and not like a slob?

My BOSS: You really like the Next to Normal, eh?

ME: What are all you people doing in Texas?

Just to be clear, the above comment is from my nagging mother, not Alice Ripley (with whom I have not traveled) nor my boss (with whom I have traveled via plane once, when he commented on me "really going to town on that apple juice").
