Random Conversations At Work This Week
Mandy: Do you like South Pacific?
Me: Are you kidding? I was just having an imaginary conversation with my ex-therapist a few days ago about how much I can't stand South Pacific. (This is totally true.) [Editor's Note, 8/09: This was written 3 months before I went crying back to the same therapist after an 18-month break, afraid that I had accidentally handed down a death sentence to a kitten, who turned out to be fine, only he doesn't live in my building anymore. And once again, this woman is no longer my therapist. And I ALMOST don't have imaginary conversations with her anymore.]

Me: Don't you think Emma Watson looks like Ally Sheedy?
J-Dog: Yeah, a little, you're right.
Me: I almost feel that if Ally Sheedy would get her act together and start acting again, she and Emma Watson could play brother and sister.

Me: Don't you think Emma Watson looks like Ally Sheedy?
Boss: A little bit.
Me: I sort of expected you to say, "She looks a little like the Sheed."

Audge: I'm so tired. The Mets games start so late because they're on the west coast this week.
Me: You need DVR. DVR goes into the future and tapes the games before they're even played, so you can watch them earlier.
Audge: That doesn't sound possible.
Me: Ask Bill.
Bill: What? Um. . . I haven't really heard of that.
(Backstory: This is a woman who is very sweet and deserves only good things in life. But I continue to harass her on a daily basis about getting DVR. She tapes Regis and Kelly, for crying out loud. Every day.)

Audge: I'm going to Jamestown next week for the 400th anniversary of the first settlement.
Me: You know, the last surviving settler is actually going to be there.
Audge: The last surviving settler from 400 years ago?
Me: Yes.
