A Coinstar Is Born

Coinstar machines usually suck up about 9¢ for every dollar of coins you exchange. And since I am too freaking lazy to drag a bag of change the mile or so to the local Commerce Bank to exchange my abnormally large heaps of coinage, I usually dish out the dough. But now Coinstar has a deal where you can get a GIFT CARD to places like Amazon and itunes and not pay any fee at all. Sweet! So I got about $30 and put it towards shoes, which I finally ordered, because right now I'm wearing open-toed sandals, and my toes are going to be frozen if I don't start wearing regular shoes. (They're also going to be ganrenous from infection. These sandals make my feet filthy.)

True story: Last year, making the 1.2 mile "walk of shame" from therapy to work, I felt something wet in my left sandal and figured I'd walked in a puddle. . . even though it wasn't raining or particularly wet that day. And I thought, "Wouldn't it be cool if I got to work, and my foot was actually covered in blood?" (Maybe this is why I was in therapy?) And I got to work and forgot about the whole thing, until about an hour later, when I looked in my shoe, and it was indeed filled with blood. Thankfully, it was my blood. I guess I cut it on a pebble or something. It was gory and gross and fabulous. And it DID rain shortly thereafter, so my sandals got washed.
And I never got tetanus, which is good.

Last night I finally finished That Touch of Mink, which was great, classic fun. Doris Day plays a virtuous computer operator who unsuccessfully tries to throw virtue to the wind and have an affair with the dapper Cary Grant. (Yeah, they had computers in 1962, but they took up entire rooms and did not come with Windows pre-installed.)

And I looked up Gig Young, who has a pivotal role in the movie, hoping to find out what a great guy he was. It turns out, Gig Young was a supporting actor who killed his wife, and then himself, which is not so fun.

These are my shoes. Call them lesbian-y or clunky or unstylish or whatever. Shoes is shoes. Any confederate soldier would have been happy to have them.

Why haven't you added Touch of Mink to your list of recently viewed movies?

And welcome back to blogging! I loved the shoe story.

BTW, what kind of shoes did you finally decide on?

OK, they are definitely better than some of the other ones you were looking at. I approve.
