Carrie Fisher Might Be Mad at Me

Walking home tonight, I started imagining that Carrie Fisher and I were friends, and at one point I moved to Hollywood, and I stayed in her guest house, and we collaborated on a movie script, and she was my mentor. And one afternoon, she called me about going to dinner, and this is how the conversation went:

Me: Oh, I was just thinking about you, because your mother's old movie, Bundle of Joy, was on.
Carrie: Oh, that's a real old one.
Me: Yeah, have you seen the original, Bachelor Mother, with Ginger Rogers? It's much better.
Carrie: Wait. Why would you say that to me? That's my mother you're talking about.
Me: Well, I'm not saying it's your mother's fault. It's just not that great a movie. You're saying every movie your Mom ever made is a good movie?
Carrie: No, but. . . why would you tell me you didn't like a movie my mother was in?
Me: I guess you're right. But, really, it's not a terrible movie. And technically, you're in it, because your mother was pregnant at the time.
Carrie: Okay, you know what? You're in Hollywood now. That kind of trivia doesn't impress.

And I'm not sure where it would go from there, because I don't really know Carrie Fisher, and I don't know if she holds grudges. I'd like to think that she'd shrug it off and we'd go get Chinese food and she'd admit that Bundle of Joy wasn't very good.

I do know that James Blunt DID stay at her house when he first moved to California, and he used to play the piano she keeps in one of ther bathrooms.

Wouldn't the bathroom environment be bad for the piano? I thought Carrie Fisher would be wise enough to know that the humidity would warp the wood.

Maybe those danish-ears finally caught up with her.

Michele thinks Bundle of Joy was a lousy movie, too. Like you, she has great taste, so she sent me here to share that with you.

I'm thinking a conversation with Ms. Fisher would include a couple bi-polar moments to keep things interesting.....she's one wacky lady.

michele sent me.....and I say hi.

As you probably know, Carrie Fisher is a judge on "The Lot" this year. "The Lot" is a reality competition where amateur directors try to win a contract for a (really small) big budget film. I've been disappointed with the films, but there's been a decent one every now and then.

She's the Simon of the judges (though a mild one) and Gary Marshall is the Paula (what is he talking about?).

The guest judges have been interesting, other than Michael Bay. He's just an arrogant asshole.

This is so awesome. First, your cat (assuming that's your cat as your user pic) looks just like one of mine (minus the fancy claws) - http://bellarossa.blogspot.com/2007/06/calpurnias-edamame-breakfast.html

And, I was being interviewed by my hometown newspaper just yesterday, and when they asked me what my dream comedy writing job would be, I said "something like what Carrie Fisher does...being a script doctor, taking existing scripts and punching up the funny."

Your blog is very funny! I think I'll keep popping in on you.

I agree with you about "Bundle Of Joy"...The Original was much much better....I wonder if Carie Fisher would not agree with you on this...? She seems like a pretty straight shooter when it comes to films, even thoughthis film is one of her mother's...
Piano in the Bathroom? Hard to believe with her musical background...Of course maybe it is a HUGE bathroom...(lol)...

Is James Blount the one who sings "your Beautiful"???
Horrible. I don't understand his phenomenol success...It is like The Emporer's New Clothes...!
AND,
Michele sent me today to say all of the above! (lol)

I LOVE that you are such a movie buff...And I think it is FABULOUS that you look at old films...Some of them are The Best Of The Best!
"Sullivan's Travels"...Show me a current 'comedy' better than that!

I like her books more than her acting, Carli. As for her Mom, Singing in the Rain was a classic...
