What I Did Today

•Visited the Museum of Modern Art, perhaps for the first time ever. I really enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. Since I wasn't anticipating the museum (it was raining, so no park), I didn't bring a camera. Next time, Gadget.
•Finally saw the first half of Little Fugitive. I caught the second half more a decade ago on TV. A brilliant little gem of a film, Little Fugitive follows a young boy as he explores Coney Island on his own, all the time the victim of a prank leading him to believe he's he's killed his older brother. It's obvious that the child playing the role of Joey was not so much acting as he was simply being a kid in front of a camera.

A note left by the older brother on the walls around Coney Island as he frantically searches for him:
Joey: I am not dead. Meet me at the parachoot. Lennie.

•Did not crash a 6-year-old's birthday party.
•Bought some grapes
•Did the Pilates for Dummies DVD
•Bought a new kitchen scale and those things for your bathtub that keep you from falling.
•Resisted the urge to buy:
Two shirts from TJ MAXX that I absolutely didn't need
A hammock for my cat
Donut peaches
Anything from the MOMA store
Sandals that weren't really what I wanted
Discount cheese
A silicone oven mitt shaped like an alligator, for $20
•Rocked it out
•Didn't keep properly hydrated

All in all, a good Sunday. When I look at what I might have purchased had I not exercised impulse control for a change, I realize how wasteful I can be.

But damn, I really liked that oven mitt.

I LOVE MOMA....I think it is one of the Great Great Museums and they used to have a Film Series that was FANTASTIC! Something to look into!

Time to use the old good behavior / reward system. You know, something like "I clean the bathroom...I get that rockin' aligator oven mit!"
