A Few Random Thoughts

I got a Republic of Tea catalog in the mail, and it came with a free tea bag. Every catalog should come with a free tea bag. (Hey, head out of the gutters, gutter head!)

I fell down a few steps tonight and landed on my head on a hard floor. . . and I appear to be OK, except for a couple of lumps I didn't have before and a throbbing headache. Hopefully this will be the last time I fall on my head this year.

I got a lot accomplished this weekend, but not everything I wanted to accomplish. So I'm not a rock star. . . maybe an adult contemporary star.

If Starbucks was a person and was dying, and looked back on its life, I hope it would recognize its new signature hot chocolate as its greatest life accomplishment. Seriously, this is damn good stuff. . . not too sweet, not too bitter.

I bought a crock pot a few weeks back and finally used it. Stock pots are awesome. . . hopefully next time I won't be afraid to leave it home alone, so I don't have to stay home for 6 hours while my food cooks, which kind of defeats the purpose.

I played with my friend Justin's iPhone today, and yeah, I admit it. They're awesome. I haven't played with them too much because I know that owning one is not in my near future. . . but when I see how awesome it is, I definitely covet.

I'm planning my Black Friday. I'm more into people watching than shopping (my shopping is mostly done, but I will be purchasing several Bratz dolls, G-d willing.) I'm going to bring my video camera and my regular camera. The Disney Store opens at midnight, and Kohl's opens at 4. They're in the same mall, a short walk from Target, so I'm thinking I might just go to a 10p.m. movie at the mall, then stay and go to The Disney Store, then hit Kohl's, then hit KB (I think they open at 5), then hit Target at 6. All this, so I don't have to schlep from Hoboken to Jersey City or worry about getting a cab on Friday morning.

I usually buy myself a few items on Black Friday. This year I'm going to check out the $3.99 DVDs offered by several places (when they're this cheap, I can break the "you don't need any more DVDs" rule) and perhaps some other items. How do I know what's going to be on sale on Friday? I'm a big fan of BFADS.NET.

Some of my closest friends are people I never see.

I think I want to spend an entire day at Petco taking pictures of people trying sweaters on their dogs.

OK, tons to do at work, lots to do at home; I am hoping that tomorrow is epically productive so that on Wednesday night, I can relax at my folks' house watching Top Chef and contemplating a midnight trip to Toys R Us for their Thanksgiving Mystery Sale.

I don't get it. I don't even really like shopping. But Black Friday. . . it's more of a hunt.

I am too old to say "epically."

Thanks for the preview of a civilized Black Friday. Every year for about four years I took my boyfriend's three young grandsons to Toys R Us in Times Square on Black Friday to buy toys for them and for Winter Wishes. They won't be here this year because their mother is mad at me, but I will miss the uproar and the stress. I didn't think it could be much fun without screaming and arguing kids! But now I see that it can be a real organizational challenge. That sounds like something I could get into -- if I were going to be Christmas shopping at all this year.
