One thing that's been bothering me in my quest to figure out who to vote for is what others around me would think when they found out. Would they think I gave into party pressure? That I was just trying to be different? That I wasted my vote?
And then I remembered going along with my mother several years ago while she cast her vote. When I asked her who she'd voted for, she said, "That's private."
I'm not very good at keeping things inside, but knowing that my vote is between me and me and the crooked pollster stealthily perched on a ceiling beam hanging over the voting booth makes my decision a little easier to make. . . the fact that I'm not in a swing state is also a factor. To quote Evita (the musical, not the woman), "When risk is slight, one takes one's stand."
Oh, and for all y'all out in California, here's one issue I have an unwavering opinion on:
Prop 8 = Prop Hate.
