End of Year Movie Roundup

Movies seen through December 31, 2006: 130
Average year of release: 1965.8692307692, which, if I'm correct, correlates to November 13, 1965, at 9:27 a.m.

For a complete list, please see sidebar.

Favorites:
Stalag-17
The Apartment; One, Two, Three; Double Indemnity; Sweet Charity;
Rear Window; Annie Hall; Dreamgirls; Mister Roberts

Biggest Disappointments (Not the worst movies, just the ones that didn't live up to expectations):
Goodnight and Good Luck
, Irma La Douce,
Crash, The Final Conflict , The Caine Mutiny,
In the Good Old Summertime,
Brief Encounter, The Break-Up, Forbidden Planet

Favorite title: Strange Love of Martha Ivers (The movie isn't great, but the name is fabulous.)

Most welcome surprises: Night of the Hunter, Westworld, Imaginary Heroes, Cimarron (1960 version), The Snake Pit

Random bizarre plot: Lucille Ball, playing a version of herself, attending a military school's prom as a misguided publicity stunt in Best Foot Forward.

Proudest moment: Having learned the difference between Tender Mercies and Great Santini, seen them both, and enjoyed them both.

Reconcilliation: I've learned to accept Deborah Kerr, annoyingly perfect posture and all.

If there are any movies you'd like to know more about, let me know. I'd be happy to blog about any of them. This blog did start out, after all, as a place to record the movies I'd seen.
